Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is convinced they have an edge on Manchester City in their top four battle.
City have a one-point advantage and currently occupy fourth place in the Premier League.
But Herrera says: “When you’re fifth in the table and want to be in the top four, you have to maintain this form.”
“It is not going to be easy because Man City also wants to be in the next Champions League tournament, but we have to fight for it. I think we are ready to do it.”
“It is very important winning two games in a row, playing quite well. Overall the game against Man City we did it very good and now we have two clean sheets.”
“We are getting back some important players for us so we can be optimistic because we still have a lot to fight for.”
Herrera says the club cannot afford another campaign away from the big stage.
“Man United should be every year in the Champions League,” added Herrera.
“I think the last 25 or 26 years, just one time we didn’t play Champions League, so we want to be there.”
“We are Man United, we as a player are obligated to fight until the end and I think we have the quality to be there.
“Man City has a bigger squad, very good players, but I think right now we can fight against them. We are just one point behind them.”
“I think the last game (the derby) we showed that we are a little bit better than them right now, in this moment. We beat them away in the Manchester derby so we can be optimistic.”
