New Southampton signing Charlie Austin says Manchester United can be beaten today.
Austin is set to make his Southampton debut against United following a £4m move from QPR.
The 26-year-old striker said: “You look at Man United and look at Southampton now and it was brilliant what they did last season, winning 1-0 there so why can’t we go there this time and take all three points again?
“All the lads are up for it and ready to go. We know it’s going to be a tough game but they’re there for the taking.”
“If you look at Manchester United over the years, this free-flowing team, but Southampton are going to go there and we’re going to give it a good go.”
“It’s interesting, looking at how many shots and crosses Southampton have had when Manchester United have come under criticism because they have not had so many.”
“I’ve been watching Southampton through the season and seen how many chances they create. As a centre-forward you thrive off that – balls into the box, that’s what strikers want.”
“It doesn’t matter that we go to Man United – the lads are on a high, ready for the game.”
