Barcelona chief rules out move for Paul Pogba

Barcelona will not make a transfer move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, according to the La Liga club’s sporting director Ariedo Braida.

The France international has been linked heavily with a move to Barca over the past month with the Catalan giants reportedly looking to raise funds to bring Pogba in.

However, the possible sticking point in any deal for the 25-year-old is Man United’s reported valuation of €120million.

Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco have also been credited with interest in Pogba but Barca were thought to be most keen on the 2018 World Cup winner.

Now one of Barcelona’s top brass has moved to dismiss speculation over any potential deal for Pogba despite acknowledging the midfielder’s ability.

“I don’t think we’re going to make a move for Pogba, but he’s a great player,” Braida told Spanish radio.

That comes hot on the heels of Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu admitting that there was still a possibility to bring in players before the window shuts in Spain at the end of August.

“We’re focused on the league, so it’s best to ask [Eric] Abidal, [Ramon] Planes or Pep Segura about players. There’s still time to do business.”
