Bayer Leverkusen striker Chicharito: Sir Alex still texting me

Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez has revealed he’s still in contact with his former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Mexican became a fan favourite during his time under the Scot, but Louis van Gaal decided to sell him to Bayer Leverkusen over the summer.

Chicharito told Football Focus: “For me he is the best. He gave me the chance to make my dream come true, to play in Europe and then in one of the biggest clubs in football history. So, I’m glad I’m very happy [about] him.

“I always say that to him, on camera, and outside. For me, Sir Alex Ferguson is still very important in my life.

“I keep in touch. When we played in the Champions League before the Atletico Madrid game we texted.

“I saw him two games before, we have a lot of contact.

“When I was going to Real Madrid on loan I spoke to him in person. I went to his house and we spoke very well.

“We keep in contact as good as we can. [But] he has a lot of things to do with his family, that’s why he retired.”
