Manchester United veteran Michael Carrick admits their recent FA Cup record is poor.
Old Trafford’s vice-captain goes to Shrewsbury on Monday night admitting 12 years without winning the famous competition is too long for a club like United.
Carrick, 34, said: “I’ve won everything but the FA Cup and yes, it’s an annoyance.
“I missed out on winning it in my first season at United, losing the 2007 final to Chelsea in extra time.
“That was the first one back at the new Wembley and that was hugely disappointing.
“We’ve had a couple of really big chances to get back there over the years but just haven’t managed to take them.
“That’s the FA Cup for you but it’s been too long for this club, far too long, after winning it so many times over a number of years.”
