Former Ajax star John van’t Schip isn’t surprised seeing Louis van Gaal hand Marcus Rashford his chance at Manchester United.
Rashford, 18, scored twice on his Premier League debut in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Arsenal to take his total to four goals in his first two games for United’s senior team.
Schip played for Van Gaal at Ajax and has praised his former boss for always given the youth a chance.
He told Omnisport: “It’s a nice story but it’s the same as what he had at Ajax with [Patrick Kluivert].
“Kluivert came in because there were some injuries he had done well with the youth, and started playing with the first team and scored the winning goal in a Champions League final and his career kicked off from there.
“But he’s not afraid of playing young players and I think that’s credit to Van Gaal.”
