Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester United AND Manchester City will fail to finish in the top four this season.
The former Manchester United manager, a Premier League winner 13 times, made his comments at a Cheltenham Festival preview lunch, attended by leading trainers and others among racing’s great and good, says the Sunday Times.
United will hope to still be in the race for the top four by the time May comes around. Last week’s defeat to West Brom leaves them in sixth, four points off the final qualifying spot for the Champions League.
But neighbours City dropped more points this weekend and there is another chance to make up ground on them in the upcoming derby.
Ferguson is not confident United – or City – can make up the ground though, backing West Ham, Tottenham and Arsenal to complete the top four.
