Juan Mata says that he wants to go to Wembley with Manchester United this season, and is hoping that the team seizes the chance and beats West Ham United in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The United players will have to play a lot better than they did on Thursday night against Liverpool in the Europa League where they lost 2-0 if they want to beat West Ham. West Ham will be no pushovers, though, but Mata is eager to restore some pride by getting United to Wembley.
Mata speaking to MUTV after the disappointing performance against Liverpool said “it was not a good performance and a good result obviously” as the Liverpool players just totally played the United players of the pitch.
Mata though, says that “we need to move on, we need to win on Sunday” and give the fans something to smile about once again. United haven’t played at Wembley in the FA Cup for a while and Mata knows “it’s a chance to play at Wembley again and a chance to win a title”.
United haven’t won the FA Cup since 2004 and they might not get a better chance to try and change that this year. United were knocked out in the quarter-finals last season by Arsenal at Old Trafford and Mata knows that the players must give it their all to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
Mata won the FA Cup during his time at Chelsea and he says that the “FA Cup is very special for all of us and it is against a very good team like West Ham” who themselves will have aspirations of winning the competition.
West Ham will be well rested for the game while United had to go through a tough game on Thursday and Mata says “we need to recover as soon as possible and then focus on the FA Cup”. West Ham got through the last round very easily against Blackburn Rovers when they won the game 5-1.
