Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored on his competitive debut for Manchester United to hand them a late victory over Leicester City in the Community Shield final at Wembley.
Jesse Lingard put United ahead on 32 minutes when the winger latched onto a ball in midfield, using his pace to skip past several Foxes defenders before knocking it past a helpless Kasper Schmeichel.
The Red Devils went into the break 1-0 up but it only took Vardy seven minutes into the second half to resume normal service for Leicester. The England international made the most of an under-hit back pass from Marouane Fellaini, rounding David de Gea and rolling the ball into an unguarded net.
Then with just seven minutes remaining on the clock, Ibrahimovic introduced himself to English football with a match-winning trademark header into the far corner.
