Louis van Gaal is ready for the hostile reception that he may get at Old Trafford on Tuesday against Stoke City after the last home game against Southampton where they lost.

In their last home game, Manchester United lost 1-0 at home to Southampton, and the United fans jeered very loudly at the manager after the game.

Despite the 3-1 win in over Derby County in the FA Cup on Friday, Van Gaal knows the pressure is still on to win again on Tuesday.

Van Gaal said “I’m not a stupid man, I’m an intelligent man and I cannot predict the atmosphere on Tuesday” as many of the United fans in the stadium during the Southampton game would have been hoping Van Gaal would have been sacked by now.

Van Gaal is hoping that United can produce another good performance against Stoke saying “I hope we can give the same level of performance as against Derby”

The fans have every right to show their discontent towards the manager, but van Gaal wants them to always get behind the players and support as they did versus Derby, and one thing is for sure the United fans will get behind the players if they give their all for the club.

Van Gaal on the fans supporting the players said “it’s more important that they are supporting the players as they have to try and get the result”

There aren’t too many more unpopular figures at United than van Gaal, and he knows that saying “when I’m not so unpopular, then okay.”

“It’s not the first time that it’s happened to me but I can survive” which is good to see that the manager is ready to fight to save his job.
