Luke Shaw was delighted to be part of Manchester United’s Community Shield triumph over Leicester City.
The England international missed the majority of last season and the triumphant FA Cup final as a result of the double leg fracture that he suffered last September.
Shaw told MUTV: “I’m really happy because it’s my first trophy,” he explained. “I’m really happy for the team as well, this can kick-start our season.”
Asked if Zlatan Ibrahimovic was fated to score the winner, Shaw continued: “Yeah of course, I was sat on the bench and someone said ‘it has got to be the big man’ and he delivered.”
“He’s got so much confidence in his own play so it didn’t surprise me that he was the one that fired us to victory.”
