Louis van Gaal spoke glowingly of Marcus Rashford in the wake of his brilliant Premier League debut for Manchester United.
The Manchester-born forward scored twice and provided an assist for Ander Herrera as the Red Devils defeated arch rivals Arsenal 3-2 at Old Trafford.
It was a second scoring performance in a row from Rashford, who grabbed a brace in Thursday’s Europa League win over FC Midtjylland, and his start to life as a senior player has certainly not been lost on van Gaal.
“It’s unbelievable when you are 18 years and you come in,” he said on Sky Sports.
“I can understand it last Thursday against Midtjylland because you are coming in and you do your thing without any pressure, but the second time is always more difficult and he played a very good match because he did the things that I asked him.
“He scores again. Four goals in two matches is an average that is unusual.
“You get the chance and you have to perform. Do the things what we are asking and I have always said it is not a matter of age it is a matter of quality and he shows it.”
