LVG struggling to keep up with expectations of United supporters

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal admits that his side are not performing to the level which the club faithful expect of them.

United put in another subpar performance in their 1-0 loss at the hands of Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday and following the game, Van Gaal was subject to a chorus of boos as he made his way back into the dressing room.

Van Gaal did not seem happy with such a reception from the fans but admitted that his United side have not been performing to the expectations of the Old Trafford faithful.

The Dutchman said: “I’m very disappointed that I cannot reach the expectations of the fans.

“They have – or they had – great expectations of me, and I cannot fulfil them, so I am very frustrated because of that.

“They have also knowledge of football, of entertaining football, and you have to play football to entertain the fans. (On Saturday), I don’t think we have entertained the fans, so they can be very angry.”
