Louis van Gaal will not step aside at Manchester United in order to allow Jose Mourinho to replace him.
Van Gaal has no plans to leave his role at Old Trafford just yet despite it being suggested that he would depart for former Chelsea boss Mourinho.
There is plenty of talk regarding the United job with some outlets indicating that Portuguese tactician Mourinho was set to soon step into an imminent vacancy to be left by van Gaal’s exit.
However, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager’s biographer has revealed that nothing of the sort will be taking place anytime soon.
“The British media have suggested one alternative after another as replacement,” said Maarten Meijer.
“Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola are just some of the names that have been mentioned.
“The most surprising suggestion has been Jose Mourinho.
“This is the man who was fired mid-season, after taking Chelsea to the threshold of the relegation zone.
“Van Gaal and Mourinho are friends, but he is not going to step aside voluntarily for his Portuguese colleague, or for anyone else.”
Meijer added: “Some suggest Van Gaal is not equal to the task and is overwhelmed by the pressures he encounters at Manchester United.
“Is the pressure at Old Trafford that much greater than at Camp Nou or at the Allianz Arena? Hardly.”
