Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insists he’s not planning to stoke any feud with Manchester United rival Jose Mourinho.
The Spaniard used his first public appearance as City boss yesterday, in front of thousands of fans yesterday at the club’s Academy Stadium, to insist he is far more interested in bringing his brand of football to City than stand-offs with Mourinho.
“The most important thing in football is that people don’t come to the stadium to see how good the manager is,” Guardiola argued.
“They come to see how good our players are.
“It’s not just this year – there have been many, many good managers in the Premier League, with Jose, with Jurgen Klopp, with Antonio Conte, with Claudio Ranieri, with Mauricio Pochettino, with Ronald Koeman.”
“The reason I am here is just to help the players.”
