Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says Louis van Gaal knew the expectations of Manchester United when taking the job.
Van Gaal is unlikely to find any sympathy from Pellegrini as he sets out to win his final Manchester derby before leaving the Etihad at the end of the season to make way for Pep Guardiola.
“When you are managing big teams, you expect to receive criticism if you do not win,” said the Manchester City boss. “He has the experience to manage that situation.
“When you are in a bad moment you want to support him but I don’t think he has any problems with the experience he has of managing the big teams in his career. He knows how to manage.
‘I am happy I will finish my three years and I hope Louis van Gaal will finish his three years at United, but I don’t think it’s good to compare.”
