Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has admitted that he could face the sack like Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho unless his teams form improves.
United’s poor run of results – including the club’s elimination from the Champions League – has seen pressure on Van Gaal increase ahead of Saturday’s clash with newly-promoted Norwich.
“I know that, the players know that, my staff know that.
“We have to win, because, if you lose, also for me, it’s the end of the world,” he admitted.
“We know that in advance [if results are poor, managers are vulnerable]. Jose also knows that, but it’s this world.”
The Dutchman was shocked to see Mourinho lose his job but believes even a record as good as the Portuguese tactician’s can no longer save a manager from the sack in the modern era.
“What can I say? It was a big surprise for me, I didn’t expect it.
“He’s a fantastic manager with a record that nobody has in this football world, but it is still possible [to be sacked].
