Louis van Gaal insists he is no clown following his much talked about touchline dive on the weekend.
The Manchester United flung himself to the ground in the technical area when arguing with fourth official Mike Dean about an apparent act of Alexis Sanchez simulation during his side’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The incident blew up on social media and was probably only overshadowed by teenage debutant Marcus Rashford’s match-winning brace but van Gaal was quick to play it down in his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Watford.
“It is not a part of my philosophy because I don’t think you can influence the game from that spot,” He said.
“But I am not a clown, I am Louis van Gaal, I am a human being and a manager. And the players have to think on the pitch, not the manager.”
