Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho handed Luke Shaw a start in today’s friendly at Wigan Athletic.
It was the left-back’s first game since suffering a double leg fracture ten months ago in Champions League action at PSV Eindhoven.
“It’s the worst thing in football, long-term injuries,” Mourinho told MUTV before kickoff.
“The kid was working in the summer, working every day at the training ground to be ready for this (today).
“I was expecting him to start the preseason with some limitations. But the limitations are a little bit of weight, he’s a little less sharp, but the physical point of view is good.
“And from a mental point of view he is good.”
