Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has heaped praise on match-winner Marcus Rashford after his goal led United to a 1-0 win over City in Sunday’s Manchester derby.
However, the Dutchman also dropped a word of caution by claiming that the 18-year-old will need to perform on a consistent basis before he can be considered a finished product.
He said: “He is a real striker and that’s why I played him in that position because he can make goals and he is also an attacking point and runs the channels.
“I like him very much, but still he is 18 or 19 years old so we have to wait and see how consistent he is.”
Academy product Rashford has now scored five goals in eight appearances for United, having netted four times on his first two starts.
