Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward offered just one word after their Europa League defeat at Liverpool.
The Mirror says Woodward is alleged to have come face-to-face with Manchester Evening News journalist Stuart Mathieson on his way out of Anfield.
But when Mathieson turned his head to ask him a question, the United chief merely replied: “Don’t!”
Later, Mathieson commented: “I am no body language expert and it might be looking to deeply into just one word but putting aside the immediate disappointment of just watching an abject performance from Van Gaal’s side, but Woodward’s word smacked of someone who just didn’t want to be confronted with more angst.
“Maybe he’s had enough. Who knows but it was certainly a far cry from the chief executive who at the beginning of December had let it be known Van Gaal had delivered most of what the club had put in his remit.”
