Anthony Martial has enjoyed his first season with Manchester United.
Eyebrows were raised when United made Martial the most expensive teenager in football history last summer but the 19-year-old has proved a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing campaign for Louis van Gaal’s side.
The former AS Monaco striker was impressive in victory at Manchester City on Sunday and spoke to Canal+ about his move.
“My debut (against Liverpool)? It went well, it was just one great game. I played well straight away and that was good for the team,” said Martial.
“(Morgan) Schneiderlin was my translator. It was difficult with English.
“On the ground with the price of my transfer I must play well and score goals.
“Rooney and I get along well. Too bad he is injured, but I hope he will come back soon.”
