Axel Tuanzebe was one of a number of Manchester United youngsters training with the first team under Jose Mourinho ahead of his first clash as new United boss.
The Reds play Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium on Saturday where new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan could make his debut having joined for around £30million from German side Borussia Dortmund.
Eric Bailly was also involved in training after his move from Villarreal but Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains on an extended break along with many other United stars after their involvement in Euro 2016 and Copa America Centenario.
Captain Wayne Rooney along with Chris Smalling, Marcus Rashford, David de Gea, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marouane Fellaini, Paddy McNair, Morgan Schneiderlin, and Anthony Martial are all on holiday after playing at Euro 2016. Meanwhile, Argentina duo Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero were at Copa America Centenario as well as Antonio Valencia with Ecuador.
As Mourinho took charge of training at Carrington, he was joined by Manchester United’s new coaching set up including Rui Faria and Silvino Louro.
Due to De Gea and Romero’s absence, under-21 goalkeepers Dean Henderson and Joel Pereira were involved as well as Sam Johnstone who was on loan at Preston North End for a small period last season.
James Wilson, who was on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion last season from January, was in training as Mourinho looks to give him a chance to prove himself before considering loan offers for the English striker. Under-21 centre-back Axel Tuanzebe was in action too as well as Tyler Blackett, returning from an unsuccessful loan at Celtic.
A great positive for United fans was the inclusion of Luke Shaw in full first team training as expected. The left-back suffered a double leg break last September and will be like a new signing in the coming season.
