Jose Mourinho insists Juan Mata has no issue with being subbed off late in Manchester United’s Community Shield win over Leicester City.
The Spanish midfielder was replaced by Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 93rd minute of the Wembley encounter having only come on for goal scorer Jesse Lingard 30 minutes earlier.
Mourinho was quizzed on the strange substitution after his side’s 2-1 win but insisted that everything was fine in the United camp.
“Mata is fine, he understands what I did,” said Mourinho.

“We want to win and everyone is happy in the end.”
Mata also appeared to be fine after the match, posting a celebratory message on Twitter:
