Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has insisted that teenage wonder Marcus Rashford must keep his feet on the ground after scoring four goals in his first two United appearances.
The 18-year-old was forced into the media spotlight after scoring twice in both games against FC Midtjylland and Arsenal, and is tipped to become a United regular in years to come.
Though team mate Mata, who has made 157 Premier League appearances, has encouraged the teenager to keep his head down.
He said: “He has to keep calm now. Everyone is going to call him, speak and write about him, but he needs to keep calm”
The Spaniard continued: “I think he has a bright future, but he needs to be as calm as he is now and keep playing football.”
The United faithful have certainly been given a glimpse of Rashford’s future of late and the Spaniard is one of many to congratulate the United youngster.
He said; “He’s on fire. He played because of Anthony Martial’s injury and obviously that hasn’t affected him. Neither has the stadium, the crowd or the pressure.”
He added, “We were under a lot of pressure, but he’s shown what he can do, we’re very happy for him.”
With Anthony Martial likely to make his return from injury against Watford on Wednesday, Rashford may well settle for a place on the bench, though many United fans will want to see the 18-year-old retain his place in the starting eleven.
United go into their midweek match with Watford after an excellent week which saw them win all three of their matches, scoring eleven goals in the process.
With eleven Premier League games remaining this season it seems the red devils have hit form at the right time, as they bid to push for a Champions League place.
Whether Rashford will be a key part in the run in remains to be seen, though he will take the credit for breathing life back into a United side that have struggled over large parts of the season.
