Jose Mourinho has overseen Manchester United’s best season points tally since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
During Fergie’s last season in charge at United his side finished with a total of 89 points.
After going 2-0 down against rivals Manchester City, on Saturday, United scored three goals in the second half to beat City and claimed three points which took their tally to 71 points, with six games still to be played.
Any other season, Manchester United would be gunning for the title but the fact City have dropped points in just five matches all season has made it an impossible task.
Although, Jose Mourinho’s men may miss out on the Premier League title to City – they are making progress.
After Fergie’s retirement, the Red Devils suffered underwhelming seasons in 2013/14 under David Moyes and Ryan Giggs, where they finished with 64 points and in 2014/15 under Louis van Gaal in which they finished with 70 points.
