Jose Mourinho has given a clear indication that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could re-sign with Manchester United.
The Swede was released by United after his contract expired at the end of last season. However, the 35-year old has remained close to the Red Devils, using their Carrington training facilities for his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury in April.
United recently bought Romelu Lukaku from Everton for 75m, but Mourinho has said that the club could not go without a striker during Ibrahimovic’s recovery period and implied that a deal for the enigmatic forward could still be possible.
“We spent big money on a striker because, with strikers, you either spend or you don’t get,’ Mourinho said.
“And we spent because of what happened to Zlatan and we can not allow ourselves to be without an important, strong striker for the first six months of the season.”
