Jose Mourinho insists he will not blame Paul Pogba for missing a penalty for Manchester United during their 2-0 win at Burnley on Sunday.
United were leading through first-half goals from Romelu Lukaku when Marcus Rashford earned a second-half spot-kick at Turf Moor.
Pogba stepped up having already scored penalties against Leicester and Brighton this season.
But Joe Hart was equal to the France star’s effort, with the Burnley keeper diving to his right to parry the shot to safety.
Mourinho was in no mood to criticise Pogba for his miss.
“I never blame a player for missing penalties,” Mourinho said at Turf Moor.
“I blame the ones who refuse to go up there. Paul has scored some good ones for us.”
Asked if Pogba would continue on penalty duty, Mourinho replied: “If he wants, yes.”
