Manchester United and Real Madrid would ‘take Harry Kane straight away’ if Spurs were ever to sell him, according to Gary Neville.

Kane was the star of the show for Tottenham again this season, and began his World Cup campaign in ideal fashion with a match-winning brace against Tunisia.

The former United defender and current Sky pundit has claimed that the England captain would cost over £100m, but that wouldn’t put teams off.

“World class for me is defined by ‘would he get into any other team in the tournament?’,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“I think he would, I think other teams would have to find a place for him, I think he’s that good.

“There will be people that say ‘how do you define world class?’

“His performances in the last two or three years in the Premier League, his performances for England, his stature, the fact that I think if he was made available for sale every club in Europe would want him.

“That’s talking about Real Madrid, Manchester United, all the clubs that have got the sort of £100m-odd would want him straight away.

“He’s gold for me in terms of stable character, strong mentally, capable of withstanding physical knocks.”
