Manchester United great Gary Pallister believes that the atmosphere at Old Trafford will play a huge role in the Europa League second leg tie between United and Liverpool.
Liverpool are favourites to progress to the next round after winning the first leg 2-0, but Pallister is confident that home crowd could inspire Louis van Gaal’s men back into the tie on Thursday night.
He said: “We didn’t play well at Anfield and we’re thankful for David de Gea for keeping us in it with some great saves, otherwise it could have been all over.
“But Old Trafford is going to be a different occasion. There was an outstanding atmosphere at Anfield – I thought it was terrific.
“If we can reproduce that at Old Trafford and make it uncomfortable for Liverpool there’s no reason we can’t get back into the tie. We’re 2-0 down but if we score early doors and it’s a different kettle of fish.
“United have got it within them. They showed that against Arsenal. We went into that game not being too sure. Some of the performances against the bigger teams hadn’t been great going into that game and yet they turned in a great performance.”
