Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that Marcus Rashford, already a United hero due to his actions in the Europa League and the Manchester Derby, is an example of what the club is.

Rising from obscurity, Rashford has quickly ingrained himself with the Old Trafford faithful this season; from heroics in the Europa League against FC Midtjylland to netting the winner against Manchester City on his Manchester Derby debut.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to label the teen as, “a sensation” and that he was, “one of the best in years”.

Ferguson also levied high praise on the teen, stating that he was “an example of what I think is Manchester United”.

Fergie went on to state that United was the “one club in England” that would have identified Rashford and would “always identify a Rashford”, and most importantly, “give a young kid a chance”.

He stated that United were being rewarded for their policy of giving youth a chance, and that “there was no better club” in England in that respect.

Ferguson went on to state that current United manager Louis Van Gaal, under fire due to what is seen as an underperforming team, deserves credit for the rise of Rashford and other young talents this season.

Remarking on the fact that Van Gaal has given nine players their senior debut this season, Sir Alex was firm in stating “the future is good”, and implored the United faithful to remain patient and have their faith rewarded.

Stating that United’s track record prove, “a couple years on the quiet side of success” was worth it because United “always come back, and come back strong”.

Marcus Rashford has thus far scored five times from eight appearances across all competitions this season. He is Manchester United’s youngest ever scorer in European competition, and the third youngest scorer for United in Premier League history.
