Manchester United legend Paul Scholes fears their Europa League tie is already over against Liverpool.
United have been left licking their wounds following Thursday night’s shambolic Europa League defeat at Anfield.
Van Gaal’s men had just one shot on target in the 2-0 loss which followed another crushing defeat at West Brom in the Premier League.
Scholes said: “It’s very difficult, really. I’m not sure the squad is strong enough to win the game.
“Listen. We are at Old Trafford. We should be good enough to win the game.”
“But what changes would I make? (blows out cheeks). I don’t think there is a lot of choice. I really don’t.”
“He can give them shape, of course. But (at Anfield) it looked like he threw them on the pitch, picked a back four and said, ‘Do what you want’.”
