Schweinsteiger hails United win: @WayneRooney goal just unbelievable!

Bastian Schweinsteiger hailed Manchester United matchwinner Wayne Rooney for victory over Swansea City.

Rooney ended United’s eight-game run without a win after his back-heel flick saw off Swansea at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial had seen his opener cancelled out by Gylfi Sigurdsson before Rooney secured the victory late on.

Schweinsteiger stressed the importance of the victory and also praised United’s two goalscorers.

He said: “Today the victory was very important. It was not so easy after the equaliser but we kept going.”

“It was not so good after we lost three matches against Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke, but we responded well.”

“The team has character and you can see that.”

“We tried to press. We tried to control the game and score goals. We’ve had chances to score goals. It was important to get two today.”

“The influence of Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney is very important for us. They can score goals.”

“It was an unbelievable goal from Wayne. Unfortunately, he couldn’t score against Chelsea, but I think he will be very happy today.”
