Former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has agreed to play in the Indian Premier Futsal League this month.

The 42-year-old, who could have been No. 2 at Manchester United had new boss Jose Mourinho decided to keep the Welshman rather than opt for Rui Faria, will join former United team-mate Paul Scholes in the  tournament which begins on Friday in Chennai and Goa.

Giggs, who worked as a pundit for ITV during Euro 2016, ended 29 years at Old Trafford earlier this month and he’s now heading to India to play five-a-side with his pals.

Ronaldinho, Deco, Michel Salgado and Hernan Crespo have also been signed up for the tournament, which will run from July 15 to July 24 in eight cities across India.

Premier Futsal is a variant of football, where players use a smaller and less bouncier ball. Futsal is five-a-side, with 20-minute halves, and is played on a hard-court surface.

Each franchise will be assigned a marquee international football player, seven international and five Indian Futsallers to their squad to participate in the season through a player draft, scheduled later this month.

Ex-Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder Luis Figo is the president of Premier Futsal.
