Louis van Gaal is reportedly considering leaving his post at Manchester United a year early.
Dutch sources suggest that the Dutchman is believed to be pondering the possibility of retiring from the management career at the end of the current season, 12 months before his contract with the Red Devils expires.
Van Gaal’s relatives in Holland are concerned about the mounting pressure of the United job and fear for the health of the 64-year-old.
Former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss Van Gaal has alluded to the prospect of quitting the role early and speculation continues to grow that he could pack up and walk out the Old Trafford exit door in May.
United have been heavily linked with Jose Mourinho since he was sacked by Chelsea in December and is being tipped to replace Van Gaal should he step aside at the culmination of this campaign.
