Former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has been publicly offered a new job – by the Syrian FA.
Mourinho is expected to take charge of Manchester United, though he has also been linked with a return to Real since his sacking by Chelsea.
The Syrian Football Federation released through Facebook a statement that it has submitted to the agency that represents Mourinho an offer to make him the next coach of Syria.
The statement explains the success of the team during the second round of qualifying for the next World Cup, in which they finished just behind Japan, as a good reason to accept their offer.
The federation gives Mourinho a deadline until mid-April when the FIFA rankings, which the draw for the next phase depends upon, is released.
