LA Galaxy president Chris Klein says they are retaining an interest in signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic but he revealed that the striker “wants to stay in Europe.”
The Swede made waves in his first season in the Premier League, scoring 23 goals in all competitions and helping Manchester United to the League Cup and Europa League trophies.
He is now a free agent after leaving the Red Devils in the summer and is currently working on his fitness as he recovers from a cruciate knee ligament that he picked up in April.
And Klein revealed that their attempts to bring the 35-year-old to Los Angeles could be over with Ibrahimovic preferring to remain in Europe.
“We have an incredible relationship with Zlatan and his agent,” Klein said.
“He loves our club, and he loves LA. We have an interest in him. I think, for now, he wants to stay in Europe.
“Our doors are open for a player like that. We ave rights to him in our league. We'll see where that goes.”
