Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has told defenders Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind they can leave the club this summer, according to reports.
It has been claimed the two players, both 28, were not involved in a recent photoshoot for the team’s new kit for next season, suggesting they are no longer in the club’s plans.
And, according to the Times, the Red Devils pair have been told they are surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, as Mourinho targets two new replacement full-backs in the transfer window.
Both Darmian and Blind have one year remaining on their United contracts.
Italy international Darmian has been linked with a return to his homeland with Juventus, while Blind is reportedly a target for Serie A side Roma.
Darmian has started just three games in the Premier League this season but remains a regular in the Italy national team, and is valued at around £15million.
Blind, who has not started a league match in nine months, is also rated at £15million and is reportedly willing to take a pay to leave Old Trafford.
Mourinho has a shortlist of targets to replace the defenders, with Juventus’ Alex Sandro, Fulham’s 17-year-old starlet Ryan Sessegnon and Tottenham’s Danny Rose linked.
It is also claimed Mourinho will hand Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Axel Tuanzebe, currently on loan at Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, a chance to impress next season.
