Mourinho wants Atletico Madrid chief Berta at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in luring Atletico Madrid’s sporting director Andrea Berta to Old Trafford, should he be appointed Manchester United manager this summer.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting Mourinho has been impressed with Berta’s role in Atletico’s rise under Diego Simeone and it is understood Mourinho is connected to the Italian through his agent Jorge Mendes.

Mourinho has been earmarked to replace current Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal at season’s end, but it is believed the former Chelsea manager is yet to sign a formal pre-contract with the club.

United have not previously employed a director of football at Old Trafford and it remains to be seen if the club will be open to the idea should Mourinho be appointed to the top job.
