Welsh legend would love to see Gareth Bale at Man Utd

Former Manchester United star Mickey Thomas says fellow Welshman Gareth Bale should make a move to Old Trafford.

Bale became the world’s most expensive player in 2013 when Real Madrid paid £85m to secure his services from Tottenham.

But despite Bale’s eye-catching displays, Cristiano Ronaldo still dominates the club.

Thomas, who was speaking on behalf of Vauxhall – the Wales Team sponsor – said: “I’d like to see him back in the Premier League – obviously at Manchester United.

“I think he’s so settled, and it did surprise me when he first went to Real Madrid.

“I thought he would have gone to Manchester United if they’d have had a firm offer for him.

“He’s a family man, there’s no question about that, and that has caused him one or two problem being at Real Madrid.

“But I think he settled there now. He’s got a family and kids.

“I think in himself he want to continue and be number one at Real Madrid. I really believe that.

“He wants to take over from Cristiano Ronaldo as the number one player – there’s no question of that.

“And he’s going about the right way of doing it as well.

“I think he’s [Ronaldo] found the tournament difficult. He’s a wonderful player, but maybe it’s Bale’s turn now.”
